Comments about ESL Online Websites

I used the ESL website English Central to study English. On this site, you can set the level you want to learn first. There are eight categories of videos. If there are words that you don't understand in the video, you can click the word to know the pronunciation and meaning. I was interested in the media category, so I will introduce some things I learned in the media videos. I earned that"gotta" is a contracted form of "got to", which means " have to." In Japanese, "しなければならない".
Next is "最近", which has the meaning of "lately". [I'm confused. Did you watch a Japanese video or an English video?] This word is used at the beginning of the sentence in Japanese, but in English, the word is used in the last sentence. [at the end of the sentence [?]. Before watching the video, I only knew the English word in Japanese, "たとえ~でも". However, I learned that the words "No matter" and "Even though" have the same meaning. If you can watch some videos, you can do quizzes and words tests to listen to and enter words. This app is to watch videos of your favorite genre and can practice words in addition to listening practice. In this way, you can also learn the differences between Japanese and English sentences.

I used the ESL online websites Learning Chocolate and Elllo.org.
On Learning Chocolate, there were [are] many topics and you can choose your favorite topic from them. To use the site, you must first decide on the topic you want to learn about and click on it. I did the topics "Some Food" and "Daily Routine2". Then you will see pictures and words that match the topic, and listen to the audio to confirm the pronunciation. After the confirmation, there are a kind of quiz [several kinds of quizzes] so you can learn the words by listening to the audio and typing the words. [Tell me a vocabulary word you learned.]
On Elllo.org, people from different countries talk about different topics. The script was [is] on the website so I could listen to the video while looking at it. There is a quiz, so after watching the video, taking the quiz helped me understand more. I listened to the topic "Does your country have a good public transportation?" and it was the first time I learned that the Philippines has poor transportation.
I enjoy learning words and grammar by using the online site. I think I can improve my listening skills by listening to the native pronunciation. I would like to continue using it as a tool for learning in a fun way.

I choose ''elllo''. [I tried the ESL website Elllo.] I think it is good and helpful for English study. This site has audio lessons and video lessons. First, you choose an interesting topic to watch or listen. to. Then if you can't understand what a word means, you can read the script. But you must be careful because there are occasional misspellings. Finally, you take a and check the answers. On this site, you can choose the level you want. I mainly study listening and reading.
I learned two new words. First, I learned ''blowsing''. I know the verb ''browse'' but I don't know ''browsing''. Blowse means to use the internet and view some websites on the internet and ブラウザを使って閲覧する in Japanese. Blowsing is the noun form of browse and means 情報を閲覧すること in Japanese. Second, I learned ''horizon''. I have never heard this word. Horizon means "the limits of knowledge or scope of experience" and 知識の限界・経験の範囲 in Japanese. [Kami, you say you learned the word "browse", but you spelled "browse/browsing" wrong three times! Please check your spelling! - Kevin]
This activity will help my listening skill and vocabulary, so I will use this site in the future. I hope to improve my English skill with this ESL activity.

I am surprised that there are so many free ESL websites. This time I tried Learning Chocolate and Elllo.
On Learning Chocolate, there are various topics, so you can choose the topic you like. You can listen to the audio while looking at the images and words of the topic and solve several kinds of quizzes. The quizzes include a quiz you have to type words by looking at pictures, a quiz you have to match pictures after listening to the audio and so on.
On Elllo, there are videos of people talking about various topics. The videos have scripts, so you can see the words while listening to the audio. And you can take a quiz after listening. These functions are very helpful for you to understand the content. People from various countries post the videos, so you can listen to English with different accents.
I learned two words from these websites. The first is "aghast". It means "びっくりして" in Japanese and "___" in English. The second is "reckon". It means "〜を計算する・〜と考える" in Japanese. This word seems to be used in the same meaning as "think".
I didn't know there were free English learning sites on the internet. These websites are good for me. I want to continue learning English using them.

I studied ESL using English Central. On this site you can learn English from videos that suit your level. You can also choose the video you are interested in from 9 genres such as business, media, travel and daily. You can learn pronunciation and meaning by clicking on a word you don't know in the video. In addition to watching the video, you can deepen your understanding by writing words and reading aloud. You can also click the turtle button on the video to play slowly and get the correct pronunciation. English Central also has a smartphone app. I think this app is easier to use because if you have an electronic device, you can learn anytime anywhere. You must sign up to become a member to use English Central. It's basically free, but you can take lessons by an instructor if you pay money. However, I think you can use this site enough without having to pay money. Your activities on this site will improve your vocabulary, listening and speaking skills.
I learned some new words from English Central. The first word is “procrastinating”. This means “先延ばし、ぐずぐずする” in Japanese and "___" in English. The second word is “deliberately”. This means “わざと、故意に” in Japanese and "___" in English.

I used the ESL websites Learning Chocolate and Learning English [the site is called VOA Learning English]. Learning Chocolate has a variety of topics. You choose what you want to learn from them. You will find words related to the topic you chose and memorize them in pictures and sounds, and answer the quiz questions. There are questions about choosing words to match the pictures by listening to the audio and typing the words by looking at the pictures.
Learning English [the site is called VOA Learning English] contains topics about environmental issues that are occurring today and the culture and problems of each country. From there, you can choose what you are interested in and learn. You can watch the script while playing the video., so you can keep up with the speed of native speakers. Also, important words are summarized below so you can understand the meaning. Finally, you can take the quiz on how well you understand the topic. [Levels?]
I learned two words from these sites. The first is "avalanche ". It means "雪崩" in Japanese. The second is "evacuation". It means "避難" in Japanese. [English definition too, please]
I didn't know there were many sites where I could learn English. These can improve my listening and vocabulary. I want to use it a lot in the future and improve my English skills.

I used the ESL online websites Elllo and Learning Chocolate.
On Elllo, you can improve your listening skills. You can also choose your level, so you can learn in a way that suits you best. The videos have scripts, so you can also listen to the audio while following it with your eyes. After listening to the audio, there is a quiz so you can check your understanding.
On Learning Chocolate, you learn vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation. This site has a variety of topics to choose from and is simple to operate. I think it is easy to learn English because there are many gentle quizzes and pictures. You can easily learn various quizzes such as listening to the audio and matching, fill in the blanks, dictation, and more.
I found two words from these websites. The first is “locksmith”. It means “a person who makes and repairs locks”, and “鍵屋” in Japanese. The second is “dwelling”. It means “a house, apartment, or other place of residence”, and “住居” in Japanese. [You did this vocabulary part perfectly!]
Though the ESL online websites, I can improve my listening skills and vocabulary, and I would like to continue to use these to study English.

I used an ESL online website called English Central. This site has videos for different levels, so you can learn English well according to your ability. The good points of this site is that you can not only read subtitles and listen to native English speakers, but you can also learn speaking, writing, and conversational skills. After watching the video, you write down the words in the video, and then actually read the lines into the mic while listening to the model. At the end, you will talk to the AI chat about your impressions of the video and what you have learned. Through these you will learn more practical English than with other sites.
This time I learned two expressions. The first one is "It's up to you". In Japanese, it means "あなた次第". It can be used, for example, when deciding on a restaurant or a movie with friends and you want to leave the choice to them.. It is used in many situations regardless of country.
Next, I learned "What if...?" This means "仮に、〜だったらどうする?" in Japanese. It is an expression that can be used in everyday life, for example, when you are driving out on a holiday and you're trying to decide what to do, I think many people say, "渋滞だったらどうする?" In that case, we can use the sentence "What if there is traffic?

I was amazed at how many free ESL sites there are. I tried the ESL site Elllo. On this site, you can choose your own level. You can learn idioms and grammar through listening. You can also take quizzes. There are scripts so it is easy to understand what you are listening to. You can also listen to YouTube videos with subtitles. I found the mixer interesting; it is a topic with 6 International speakers answering each topic. It was interesting to learn about listening and the ideas of the international speakers. I learned about veganism as well as two words about veganism. A vegan is a person who is completely vegetarian. First, I learned the term "Beyond Chicken," which is plant-based meat that tastes like chicken, 代替肉 in Japanese, It is a meat-like product made without any meat. The second is the adverb "significantly," which means "greatly, hugely" and. 大いに in Japanese. This Elllo website is perfect for those who want to strengthen their listening skills, but not for those who want to learn vocabulary. [Really?] I feel it is important to use one site in depth and learn for different purposes. I would like to find another site that suits my needs so I can enjoy learning. [So this means you don't want to use Elllo?]

I used the ESL online websites VOA learning English and learning Chocolate. On VOA learning English, there are audio-only videos, sentences that flow [?] in the videos, and a few words and their meanings at the bottom. There are various types of videos. For example, there are topics about the coronavirus and war. It varies depending on the video, but there are short to long videos, so you can choose the video according to your busy schedule. I choose "Study Shows Dog Personalities Not Related to Breed" Listen to the correct pronunciation in the voice and look at the correct spelling in the script. Because the words are written below, I can know words I don't understand. With VOA learning English, I am able to check the sentences while listening to the correct English, so I can improve both listening and spelling.
On Learning Chocolate, there are words, and expressions so you can learn basic vocabulary. I chose "Arctic Animals" and "Daily Routine1". There are five types of quiz to help you learn the words. First, you, listen to the sound while looking at the illustration. Then you choose a word while listening to the audio. Next, you guess the words while looking at the illustrations. After that you guess the sound while looking at the illustration. Then, you type words while looking at the illustration. Finally, you listen to the audio and type in the spelling. The number of seconds is counted, so you can see how long it took. Learning Chocolate is very easy to do because you can enjoy English like a game.
I learned five words from Learning Chocolate, including the following. "Guarantee" means "保証する" in Japanese. As an example, when someone says *we guarantee safety," it means "we promise and ensure safety." Another word is "observations". "Observations" means "観察" in Japanese. For example, we use the word "observation" when we say "astronomical observation," like when we see a planet or star.
[Two words is enough, so we won't use these.]
The first word is "Walrus". Walrus means "セイウチ" in Japanese. The second word is "Reindeer". Reindeer means "トナカイ" in Japanese. The Third word is "Comb" Comb means "櫛" in Japanese. "Comb my hair" means "髪をとかす" in Japanese.

I used the ESL online websites English Central and Learning Chocolate. Both sites were good and easy to use.
English Central allows you to study at your own level. There are a wide variety of categories, divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The videos are subtitled in English, and if you tap on a word you don’t understand, it will tell you what it means and pronounce it for you. You can also check your own learning progress. Since each video is short, you can easily watch and learn.
Learning Chocolate is a website where even children can learn vocabulary. There are many categories. and you can learn not only vocabulary, but also pronunciation and spelling. This site is especially suitable for those who want to learn vocabulary and spelling.
I learned two new words. The first is “symmetrical”. This means “2つの部分が全く同じである” in Japanese. The second is “reign”. It means “君臨する” in Japanese. [English definitions too, please.]

I used the ESL online website Elllo.org. You can improve your English listening skills with Elllo. Videos on this site can be viewed at a level that suits you. You can listen to the English of people from different countries and hear about a wide range of topics. The people you're talking to [?] in the video are different every time, so you can hear English with different accents.
There are many ways to study, but I studied like this. At first, I just listened. Next, I listened again to what I didn't understand while looking at the translation [script?]. Finally, there's a quiz, so I checked to see if I understood.. I also practiced shadowing after the quiz because shadowing helps to improve my speaking ability.
I will introduce two words I learned through this site. The first is “parcel”. It means “something that can be put in it” [?], and “小包” in Japanese. The second is “probably ”. It means “maybe”, “perhaps” and “多分”in Japanese.
I will continue to use this site because I can study in a short time on the train while on the way to school

I tried the ESL online websites Elllo and Learning Chocolate. On Elllo, there are audio lessons and video lessons. And also, you can choose the level of English. Both have scripts and quizzes in addition to audio. Scripts help you to understand what they are talking about. Quizzes are useful for making sure you understand the content. Audio lessons also have a vocabulary page. Video lessons don’t have vocabulary pages, but you can listen to various people’s English from different countries. I think this is interesting because everyone has different ways of speaking and intonation. With Learning Chocolate, on the other hand, you can mainly learn vocabulary. There are a lot of vocabulary categories, and you can listen to audios of the words. I think this site is easy to use for everyone. There are many pictures, so it’s easy for children to get interested. This time I learned two new words. The first one is “wade”. This means "walking through water or other liquid" and “水の中を歩く” in Japanese. Next, the second one is “sunbathe”. This means "exposing one’s body to the sun in order to relax or to obtain a suntan." and“日光浴をする” in Japanese.
[I used the ESL online website English Central.] One of the most important things I do when studying English is to get my ears used to it. I watch a lot of videos, and English Central allows me to watch videos according to my level. You can choose from many genres, including English used in daily life and English featured in business, travel, media and news. You can also choose from English subtitles or Japanese subtitles to help you understand the meaning of the videos. After you finish watching a video, you can take a quiz to review it and pronounce the English words. I watched videos about “3 Friends and 4 Bedrooms” and “Drama Teacher Jane” on English Central. It was interviewing residents [?] and you can listen to the conversations they have among friends. It’s beginner level so it’s easy to listen to but [?] you can learn English for everyday use. Even if words are pronounced with each other [?], there are English subtitles so that you can listen to the phrase over and over again and understand it. In addition, this video is a seasonal one, which makes it fun to watch as it continues. [?] If you like movies, this site is a good way to learn without getting bored because there are previews so you can better understand the movie and if you like an artist, you can listen to his/her narration, so you can choose the movie that suits you best.

I used the ESL online websites Elllo, English Central and Learning Chocolate. All sites are good to use.
At Elllo, you can learn English from audio lessons and video lessons. In addition, you can choose the levels of English learning that fits you. On this site, you can learn expressions and usage according to various situations. If you can't understand it only by voice, there is a script so you can understand it while looking at the sentences you [?] are talking about. So please try the learning method that suits you. [Who should try? This is for your graduation report. Probably only I will read it. - Kevin]
At English Central, first, you need to make an account and login. You can enjoy learning English with 10,000 videos and lessons with English teachers. On this site, you can study English specifically for situations. It explains English expressions used in various situations such as business, daily life, media, and travel with video, audio, and script. I think it's best to use it when you want to learn in advance about expressions that you don't understand when you need them. [that you may need for a specific purpose.]
Learning Chocolate is good for learning words that can be used on a daily basis. Vocabulary is learned by combining illustrations, audio, and spelling. It's a good idea to use this site so that you don't forget English words that you have already learned.
I learned some expressions from English Central. The first is “perhaps you could”. It means “~してみたらどう?” in Japanese. The second is “it's up to you”. It means “あなた次第だよ” in Japanese. The final is “” roll up your sleeves”. It means “腕まくりをする(気合を入れる)” in Japanese. [Two examples is good. Also, please include the English definition.]

I tried using the ESL site called "ello" among various ESL sites. It's a site dedicated to learning English listening, and it's easy for beginners to understand because of the scripts.I didn't understand the content at first, so I listened to it several times.I found myself not good at listening to adverbs. There are also quizzes, so it's important to listen to them repeatedly.
I learned two words from this site. The first one is "kidding".This is a way of taking back everything you just said. It is often used in the expression "I'm just kidding".The meaning in Japanese is''冗談" ''からかう".Just like kidding, joking is a word that can be used in the same sense. The second word I learned is "neighbor".This is someone who lives near you.The meaning in Japanese is "近所の人". I would like to present my impressions of several ESL sites. First of all, I felt that elllo is a large site in itself and that I would have no trouble finding what I wanted to learn and what topics I wanted to learn about. What I found easy to use were the video-based materials. The video materials were very easy to use for studying because it was easy to see the expression on the teacher's face when she was speaking and the script was written underneath so that I could check what she was saying when I couldn't hear what she was saying.
Next I used Learning Chocolate. I had used this site in my first year and found it easy to use. I found this site easy to study because I can listen to the audio, apply the words, type them in, and check them right after I hear them. The topics are easy to understand and easy to study.
After using these sites, I found elllo to be the easiest to use. This site was less stressful, especially since I did not have to log in, so I was less likely to not be able to do what I wanted to do. I tried a few other sites but could not use them because they were too stressful. For example, you had to log in to unlock features. [Please tell me some vocabulary words you learned. - Kevin]

I tried using two websites this time. First, I used Learning Chocolate. I learned a lot of words and that I can use in conversations, If I understood more words, my conversation ability will improve. I learned vocabulary about cooking and parts of the house. I also learned about living room furniture from My House, and various occupations in Some Jobs.
Next, I used ello. There are so many kinds of videos and exercises on ello that I think I can find something that suits me. I can learn to use English differently according to the situation. I could choose the level, so I feel that I can work on it without overdoing it by using the level of problems and images that fit me.
In the future, I will continue to work on these websites as well as other websites that I have not yet been able to try. I will make full use of them to suit my level, and I will continue to work with the goal of improving my academic ability day by day. [Please tell me some vocabulary words you learned. - Kevin]

The site I tried was Elllo. This site is divided by level. I think it’s good to start with something easy to get used to it. It’s easy to understand because there are videos, scripts, questions, and quizzes. There are a lot of things that I can’t spell even if I can understand the words. With this site, I can listen while looking at the spelling. If you miss it, I can check whether my listening is correct or not by looking at the script. By listening again, I will be able to listen and get used to it. Elllo is a site where I can overcome my weak points and understand after trying many times.
I also tried the chocolate site. [Learning Chocolate] The emphasis is on strengthening listening, and listening skills. This site is easy to understand even for those who are not familiar with ESL websites or English vocabulary.
I learned two words from Elllo. The first one is “sculpture”. This means "the action or art of processing." [?] In Japanese, It is called “チョウコク”,“彫刻“。The next word I learned is “reciprocate”. This means "retaliate, requite, return, to give back usually in kind or in quantity." In Japanese, it is called ”応酬する“。

[Uta, you have to write the name of the website first. - Kevin] I learned the topics of "Children with Phones". I agree that children have mobile phones because they can contact their parents in the event of an emergency. However, I think children will become obsessed with computer games and stop playing in parks and bicycles. I think that children playing outside is important as part of their growth. And children lack attention, so there is a risk of getting out of the road while looking at their cell phones. As you can see, there are good points about this problem, but there are various risks. So I thought [think] that children should not have mobile phones at home, but only when they go out. [Uta, I'm glad you have an opinion about the topic you read, but your comments should be about whether the website helps you learn English or not. - Kevin]
I learned new words on these ESL online websites. [Which sites?] The first word is “argue”. It means “議論する” in Japanese, and “discuss” in English. The second word is “dependent”. It means “頼っている・依存している” in Japanese, and “calculate” in English.

I was able to learn words using this topic work [?]. However, there is a problem. That's where the word is too easy. For example is ‘’Kitchen and dining room’’. I have three thoughts about websites. [What websites?] The first is that learning chocolate [Learning Chocolate] is suitable for memorizing words, word meanings, pronunciation, and usage. However,I don't think it's good for practicing long sentences and grammar. Next, elllo is suitable for long reading comprehension and listening. You can listen to long sentences in videos to improve your listening skills You can also improve your reading comprehension with long sentences. However, you need to be careful because you have to look up words that you do not understand by yourself. Finally, englisch-hilfen.de is the best for review etc [?]. It is the best site to study when you don't remember what you learned in school. However, this site's bad point is that there are no listening exercises. I read “Likes and Favorites” and “My Hometown” from elllo. Then I found out what Natalie and Todd liked and things they didn't like and things they did. [28 words; only these two sentences can appear in your report. - Kevin ]
At first, about “Likes and Favorites” .
First, Natalie and Todd both like the color purple. However, all the clothes Natalie has are purple, whereas Todd doesn't have any purple clothes!
Second, there favorite food is pizza. Natalie loves spicy pizza and her favorite toppings are salami, pepperoni, peppers and bell peppers!
Next, regarding the seasons, Natalie likes winter because she likes snow, but Todd doesn't like snow or winter.
At last, Their favorite comedy film is Ace Ventura.
Next, about "My Hometown" . Todd was born in San Francisco, which he says has a great view. He says the town is beautiful there, safe and crime is almost non-existent. However, they say that prices are high and everything is expensive, including food and houses. Besides that, the climate is mild, there is a good amount of nature, and the city looks very livable.
Next, Meg's hometown is Chicago. Meg says that Chicago is full of skyscrapers, lakes, and museums, and because it is a city, the cost of living is very high.

I would like to introduce two ESL websites that I have used in my studies. The first site I used was Learning Chocolate. I found this site very easy to use and easy to get into my head when learning because the words I wanted to know were displayed by genre, with spelling, pictures, and audio at the same time. On this site I learned that the word "butcher" means a “食肉解体者. I plan to write about food on my blog and will mainly cover meat, so this word will be very useful.
The next site I used was Elllo. This site has videos of people actually speaking, with subtitles underneath, so you can understand what you see and hear with your eyes and ears, which again, is easy to get into your head and very suitable for learning. If Learning Chocolate is a site for learning vocabulary, this site is for learning grammar, so you can use them together to create better sentences. I learned from this site that "all the way through 〜" means "〜を通して". I am glad I was able to learn this expression because I often use it when writing sentences.
[Please give the definitions of the words you use in both English and Japanese. The way to do that is on my blog: https://lifelong-english.blogspot.com/2022/04/how-to-write-about-vocabulary.html - Kevin]

Yoshifumi - 4/28/2022
I used Learning Chocolate. It can memorize [I can see] the images of English words along with [while I listen to] their pronunciation, so it is easy to retain in my eyes and ears. After that, I use my memory to review, which is very stimulating. It is good activating not only my English skills but also my memory. The site's appearance is pops and is user friendly.
Next, I used VOA Learning English. This siteis good because I can choose the videos according to my level of preference. The content is news, so I think it is good way not only to learn English but also to learn about current events. I think this site is also attractive because it provides clues to understanding the American point of view.
I learned a few words from these sites. The first is ‘specimen’. This means 'something collected as an example of a particular kind of thing'. The meaning in Japanese is ‘標本’.
Second, I learned ‘‘sibling’. It means ‘‘兄弟” in Japanese. I found this word useful because it can be used without distinguishing between brothers and sisters.
Aya - 4/28/2022
I used English center [English Central! - Aya, please get the name of the website correct!]. This website has many genres of videos. I learned the expression, ”What happen in Vegas stays in Vegas ” The Japanese meaning is 旅の恥はかきすて The reason these words made sense is because Las Vegas is city for gambling, so if you win or lose in gambling, you can escape from reality.
This site is so great, because we can learn new words while watching movies [videos], and when I watched a video I could do a test. I felt like my understanding of collocations improved. A bad point about this website is that there is a paid plan. Most of the people on this website are students. so I want a student discount in this website. [Aya, this is a strange comment. The website is for students. When you buy a school textbook for Tsurumi University classes, do you get a student discount? in any case, the free plan has many features. You should write about the features in the free plan.]

I watched several videos on the ESL website, Elllo. The videos I watched were about vegan chicken and kids and phone. [21 words; only these two sentences can appear in your graduation report. - Kevin ]
First ,Vegan Chicken is a chicken that can be eaten by vegan developed by KFC.There are many people who can't eat meat for various reasons. However, through these efforts, vegans can also know about the taste of chicken. [Koichi, you need a space after every period. - Kevin]
Second, Kids and phone.I thought the situation was different between Japan and the United States."That's because in this video, children are given cell phones because they are safe, but in Japan, it's not dangerous for children to walk alone, so they are often not allowed to have cell phones.
Today, I introduced these two videos.I thought what these two videos have in common is that they are talking about the problems of society that everyone is worried about. That's why I chose these videos.
Koichi, this is about the video content only. That's not the assignment. Only the first two sentences can appear in your graduation report. - Kevin]

I watched several videos on Elllo from the many ESL videos they offer I think that Elllo covers a lot of social issues, which makes it especially educational . There is an English script below the video so you can check the words that you don't understand. If you miss a word, you can check it in the script and learn the spelling. This allows you to memorize words correctly.
Japanese people are not good at distinguishing between R and L pronunciation. Japanese people who are not good at English cannot tell the difference between Rose and Rose.I think that Elllo is very convenient for studying English and makes it easy to learn. [One space after a period.]

I found out that there are so many ESL websites for studying English, and I thought it was amazing. I used three of them., Elllo, Learning Chocolate, and English as a Second Language. On the Elllo site, I thought it was very nice to study using scripts, quizzes and vocabulary. On Elllo, I learned the word ""incredible." It means "unbelievable", *amazing* and ___ in Japanese. An example sentence is "That ’s incredible. " [This is not a good example sentence because it doesn't show the meaning. - Kevin] Another word I learned is "unforgettable." It means "memorable " and ___in Japanese. An example expression is "my most unforgettable experience." [Telling two words you learned is enough. You should spend more time explaining the features of the websites. - Kevin]
[You don't need thes sentences below.]
The first word I looked up was opportunity. It means opportunity, opportunity, and project in Japanese. An example sentence is Earth day gives as a great opportunity to get involved in protecting the environment. The second word is incredible. It means incredible, unbelievable, and amazing in Japanese. The fourth word is strategy. It means strategy, strategy, policy, method in Japanese. An example sentence is What do you think about our new sales strategy? The fifth word is conversation. It means conversation, dialogue, and chat in Japanese. An example sentence is The conversation turned to politics. The sixth word is context. In Japanese, it means background, context, and context. An example sentence is These crimes should be understood in the context of poverty.

I was surprised to know there are many ESL websites, and it was my first time to use them. I’m interested in them because they are free. I tried the website ‘elllo’. On this site, you can choose the level yourself. I did ‘Listening’ and ‘Be verb’s. These topics were very easy to understand. It's good to listen to the English conversations of native speakers. There were 3 parts to the lessons. First, you listen to the English. Second, you learn important points. And third, you take a quiz. I listened to two conversations three times each. The first time, I read the sentences while listening. The second time, I didn’t look at the sentences while listening. The third time, I did shadowing with the conversation voices. Then I took the quiz. But this quiz was much too easy. I thought the quiz was not good for studying English.
Next I used ‘Learning Chocolate’. I think this website is good for children because they can match words and pictures. The website is very colorful and fun.
I learned a few words from these two sites. The first is ‘manager’. This means 'a person responsible for managing an organization'. The meaning in Japanese is ‘支配人’’管理者’. The second is 'Glasgow'. This is the name of a major city in Scotland.
Actually, I may not be able to keep studying on ESL websites. I think resources like Netflix, radio, E-reading and Reddit are better for me. I think that when studying English, it's important to continue for a long time. I should spend a lot of time studying English, so it's very important that I enjoy the materials.

Although I know the word ES, I had never heard of ESL Online websites for English language learning. First, I used English Central. That site required registration, which I did. There are three steps to studying on the site. First, watch the video. The video has Japanese and English subtitles, which can be turned on and off, respectively. Second, write down the words in the video. Finally, speak the lines. The site will check out where I have stopped. I can also record it so I can check my pronunciation. They also have free trial lessons. There is a choice of courses, beginner, intermediate, etc. If I don't understand the word, I can click on the subtitles and the meaning and pronunciation of the word will can shown immediately. I love this feature so much. I got know the word "aspiration". It means like a hope or wish. In Japanese, it means 熱望する.
Next, I used Learning Chocolate. I think that I've done this site before in Oral Communication class. First, the words and pictures are written and then memorized. I didn't really like it, so I didn't do use it much. Another site, Englisch hifen.de, is an English site where I can study English grammar. I think I'll use it to study grammar.

ESL Online Websites are great systems for me and I tried Elllo.org and English Central. These websites can be used for free but I think the quality is high.
On Elllo, you can listen to the teacher's conversation. The teachers speak very slowly, clearly and with an interval because they speak for English second language learners. So, they're easy to understand. Also, the video lesson teachers are people from various countries so I can hear English with various accents.
On English Central, I can watch a lot of videos of interesting news and hot topics in about two minutes or less. The videos are easy to watch and the content is fun. Also, the speaking lesson function is nice. With this function, you can record you voice and check your own pronunciation. It's a good function to be able to confirm my speaking ability.
I learned a new word on these ESL online sebsites, First, I learned “packrat”. The word's original meaning is a kind of rat but in this situation, the word is used to mean “a person who stores a lot of things at home (家に物をたくさん溜め込む人)". “Packrat” is a word that means the opposite of a minimalist. Second, I learned “impactful”. It means “having a powerful effect on a person or situation (影響力のある)”.
Both of these websites have good points, so we should use them properly according to the purpose. By continuing to use these, I'm sure that my English language ability can be improved.

I have used free online English language learning sites several times in class when I was a first year student, but I haven't used them in a long time. This time I used Learning Chocolate and Elllo.org.
On Learning Chocolate, there were many topic categories, so I could choose the topics I like. I tried the topics “Shopping Trip” and “Season- Summer”. First, I listened to an audio of the words while looking at the pictures, then I typed the words myself. I studied specialized words, so I could expand my vocabulary. The exercise was also a review of words I already knew.
On Elllo.org, I listened to an audio about a topic. Next, I checked the script and grammar or answered some online questions. There were also many categories such as life, food, travel and so on. I tried the topic “SixPix Listening Game #74 Vietnam”, which was for beginners and introduced culture and landscape of Vietnam. In this topic, I chose the picture that best matches the audio, so it was easy.
I found some new words. First is "popsicle", it means ice cream or frozen flavored juice on a small wooden stick, and 棒付きアイスキャンデー in Japanese. Second is "saucer", it means a small shallow dish for holding a cup at the table and 受け皿 in Japanese.
When I was using these sites, I was happy. Using online English sites are good for learning simply and quickly. I could learn listening, words and grammar at once, so it was useful and I will try it again.

I chose the website, ESL America.US to study English this time. I mainly used the sections for conversation and dictation. I think this site is very useful when you want to study English. I felt I could learn natural English conversation by listening to the example sentences. I could also learn correct pronunciation and vocabulary because I listened to English while reading the English subtitles. For example, I listened to a conversation about *Breakfast", I listened to the example sentences and I answered a few questions about breakfast. I learned “spatula (へら)”. It means "a cooking tool for mixing something".
I also used the dictation section. When I used this, I thought I could learn and write correct English. For example, I studied a dictation example called "Quantities". I learned “quantity (量)” which means "amount". First, I listened to the example sentence at natural speed. Next, I listened to it at a slow speed and wrote down some words while listening to the sentence. Finally, I listened at natural speed again, and I checked my sentence to see whether it was correct.
By using this site, I think I can study listening, pronunciation and writing sentences . I will keep using this to study English.

I used the website English as a Second Language for two weeks. On this site we can learn useful English vocabulary and sentences. There are various kinds of situations, and you can choose to practice reading and writing or grammar and vocabulary skills. The situations are separated by level. The lowest is Beginners, then levels 1-6, and Intermediate is the highest. With these levels, you can learn at the level that suits you.
English as a Second Language generally has four steps; vocabulary, cloze, sentences and dictation. The first step is ‘‘vocabulary’’. You choose a situation from the level and listen to the sentences and check the vocabulary. You can check pronunciation with British or American pronunciation. The second step is ‘‘cloze’’. You solve fill-in-the-blank questions while remembering the sentences. The third step is ‘‘sentences’’. You rearrange words into sentences. The final step is ‘‘dictation’’. You listen to spoken English sentences and type them. In this way, you can learn in four steps and understand the composition of the sentences.
I learned new vocabulary. The first word is ‘‘relive’’. It means ‘‘再び経験する’’ in Japanese and ‘‘to remember or imagine something that happened in the past so clearly that you experience the same emotions again’’ in English. Second I learned ‘‘extremely’’. It means ‘‘極端に’’ in Japanese and ‘‘to a very great degree’’ in English.
I think ESL Online improves my English skill just like video and reading books. However, there are more topics on ESL Online compared to watching videos and reading books, so you can challenge various kinds of questions. As the higher level questions are difficult, you can continue to use the site for a long time.
