Comments about E-reading

I used Apple Books for e-reading. Apple Books is on everyone’s phone from the beginning. The difference with Xreading is that a higher level of reading ability is necessary for e-reading. Xreading books are easy to understand for those of us who are learning English. However, e-reading is written with words and grammar used by native speakers. In Apple Books, I’d like to introduce ALICE’S ADVENTURES in WONDERLAND. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. [Mei, we don't need all caps. Also, please use italics for book titles.] There is a charge for this book, but I used it in class when I was in my second year. I learned more expressions in this book. The main character is Alice, She is young. Therefore, there are many expressions used by children. For example, ‘alas!’ Is a word for facts that you don't want to be true. And ‘frowning’ means ‘しかめっ面’ in Japanese. Alice is a child, so she gets angry quickly, this word comes up a lot in this book. Also, I learned a more polite way of saying "please". "If you please" means ‘もしよろしければ" in Japanese. And for other reasons I recommend, there are lots of word play in this book. There are occasions when Alice quarrels with other animals because she mistakes her "knot" for "not". Another mistake is ‘tail’ and ‘tale’ . It's interesting to read. [You need to write about the features of e-reading. What you wrote above would be the same if you read a paper book. - Kevin]

I have never used or read an e-book before. For this assignment, I read an e-book on Standard Books. There are a lot of free books. You can research subjects, keywords and sort. There are 19 subjects, such as adventure, comedy, drama and so on. Sort has release date, author name, reading ease and length, so you can research and read your favorite genre. You can see the number of characters, time to read and level on Standard Books. Books can be downloaded onto Kindle, Kobos and so on. But you can also read it as it is without downloading, so you can read e-books anytime and anywhere. [If you don't download to an e-reader app, you won't get all the features of e-reading, like the dictionary function. - Kevin]
I read ‘’ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND’’ . Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. [Kami, we don't need all caps. Also, please use italics for book titles, not quotation marks.] I learned two new words. First I learned ‘’altogether’’. I have never heard this word. Its meaning completely, entirely, totally and 完全に、全く in Japanese. Second, I learned ‘’punished’’. Its meaning punishment, penalty, retribution and 罰せられる in Japanese.
I have never used an e-reading site before, but I will use it in the future. I think it is very hard to study English by reading books because there are s a lot of difficult words. But if you can read books, you can improve your vocabulary and reading skill.

I read an English book on iBooks. iBooks is an app that is originally installed in all iPhones, so if you want to use iBooks, you don’t need to install another e-reading app. had never used iBooks before because I didn’t know I could read books for free. This app has many books that you can read for free, and you can also read books in languages other than Japanese. iBooks has several useful features. For example, you can save your page with a bookmark. So you don’t lose sight of the page you were reading. The size of the type can be increased. And also, there is a highlight function, so you can highlight the text that you want to find easily. You can choose the color of the highlights, so maybe you can try to use it differently depending on the color. Then, there are also memo functions. You can write down what you want to write about the word or phrase as a note. This time I learned new words “shrink”. This means “become or make smaller in size or amount” and “縮小する、小さくなる” in Japanese. Unlike the ESL sites I have used before, iBooks is an app that native people use, so l found it a little difficult for people like us who learn English as a second language. [What book did you read, Nana?]

I have read books using Kindle before. Kindle is an e-book service provided by Amazon. You can use it on your smartphone or tablet. It seems that you can use it on your PC, but the process is complicated, so I recommend using it on hand-held devices.
The Kindle app is free to install, but there are both paid and free books. You can buy books at any time and get them cheaper than paper books. There are all-you-can-read subscription services, but that doesn't mean you can read anything, just books targeted for the service. Recently, however, I feel that the number of books available for free reading is increasing.
Also, there are some convenient features. You can change the text font, the text size and the page color in the book. You can also use the functions of highlighters (markers?) and bookmarks as much as you like, so you can save English expressions, words, and pages that you want to reread.
I read Peter Pan by James Matthew Barrie on Kindle. I learned two words from this book. The first is "conspicuous". It means "人目を引く・顕著な" in Japanese and "attracting notice or attention" in English. The second is "gnash". It means "歯ぎしりする" in Japanese and "to grind one's teeth" in English.
Kindle has many free books to read. I think there are more difficult books than Xreading, but it's a good app to learn English.
[I think you should mention the dictionary function. You don't have to send it to me again; just add it when you make your graduation report. - Kevin]

I have never used e-reading before because I think it would be tiring for my eyes and hard to read. However, for the first time, I learned that there are very useful functions using e-reading, so I will introduce them. First, we can change the font, size and darkness of characters. We can also adjust the page color and text spacing to customize it to your liking. Also, if you come across a word you don't understand, press and hold the word to immediately see the meaning below. I think it's a very convenient function because there are many words that I don't understand in a long English book and it's difficult to look them up each time.
Basically, it costs money to read an e-reading, but you can download more than 60,000 e-reading books to your Kindle or iBooks for free using the site "Project Gutenberg". I used the Kindle this time to read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and learned two new expressions. The first expression is "dozing off", it means that you fall asleep unintentionally, and "うとうとする、うたた寝をする" in Japanese. Second, I learned "desperate", it means "trying hard to get something," and "必死、死に物狂いの" in Japanese.
E-reading is for everyone, including natives, so there are many difficult words. However, I think it helps to improve my English ability because I can look up words immediately. I think e-reading that can be read anytime, anywhere is more convenient than paper books.

There are two ways to read books; on paper or with an electronic device. Nowadays, there are many kinds of electronic reading apps, and I used Apple Books. Apple Books is provided by Apple. and you can install it free of charge from the Apple store. When you open the app, it is divided into five main categories: Read Now, Library, Bookstore, Manga Store, and Search. In "Read Now," you can read a book that you have already started. You can also set a daily reading time to find out how long you have read. You can tell by percentage how much you are reading the work you are reading now. In "Library", you can see a list of books you have purchased and you can choose from there. "Bookstore" and "Manga Store" provide information on new books and books that are now in the spotlight. You can also find them by ranking and genre. In "Search" you can search for works you want to read.
There are many things you can do while reading with this app. If you look at the table of contents and press where you want to read, you can skip it. Press and hold a character to add highlights or notes. You can change the size and font of the characters, as well as the color of the background. If you leave Auto Night Mode on, the screen automatically changes brightness to match the outside light. I think it's good that the brightness of the screen changes automatically, and that you can leave highlights and notes on the words you care about.
I read Alice in Wonderland and learned two words from it. The first word is "curtseying". "Curtseying" means "素っ気ない態度" in Japanese. Curtseying means being inconsiderate and cold-hearted. [This is not correct.] The second word is "feeble". "Feeble" means "弱々しい" in Japanese. It is used when you say you are weak due to illness.

I read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz on Apple Books. Apple Books is an e-book application provided by Apple and is available on any Apple device. There are a variety of features. First, you can choose between vertical and horizontal reading. You can also choose from four different backgrounds, so you can read the text the way you prefer. Then there are the highlight and memo functions. You can highlight in the textbook and change the color of the highlight so that it is easier to read. The memo function allows you to take notes along with words. Both functions can be viewed at a glance. In addition, there is a dictionary function that allows you to quickly search for words you don’t understand.
I found two new words from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The first is “jagged”. It means “having rough, sharp points protruding.”, and “ギザギザの” in Japanese. The second is “shrill”. It means “(of a voice or sound) high-pitched and piercing.”, and “(声や音が)甲高い” in Japanese.
Although some difficult words and expressions appeared, I felt that my English skills would improve because I could easily look them up using the dictionary function.

I read an English book using Apple Books, which is an app originally included in the iPhone. The app allows you to read books for free, and besides English books, you can read comics and novels. You can also set a target time for reading and check how much you read in a day. You can also see how far the book you read has progressed in percentage. Even if it ends in the middle, the page remains. So you can read it right away. You can also open the table of contents and go to the page you want to read. It also has a bookmark function, so you can see how far you've read. So you can read it right away the next time you open it. [I'm confused. Are you talking about the same function here or two different functions? They sound the same. - Kevin ] Press and hold words or sentences for a long time to highlight or take notes. If the text is difficult to read, you can change the size and font of the text. You can also change the color and brightness of the background. If you turn on the automatic night mode, the screen automatically changes its brightness to match the brightness of the current location. And people who are easier to read vertically can scroll vertically. It also has a dictionary function. So you can look up any words you don't understand right away. In this way, you can read any book you like to make it easier for you to read, so you can read it without stress.
I read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.I learned two words from this book. The first one is "anxiously". It means "心配そうに" in Japanese and "in a manner resulting from or revealing anxiety" in English. The second one is "melancholy".It means "憂鬱" in Japanese and "a feeling of pensive sadness, typically with no obvious cause" in English.
I learned about e-reading for the first time. I was surprised that there are so many kinds of e-books in English. I will continue to study English using e-reading.

I have been borrowing books from the library and reading them. However, I would like to introduce a very useful application, iBooks. This app is built-in if you are an iPhone user. You can read books as well as manga, and there are also new releases. By using this app, you can easily read books while traveling by train or in your free time. It is also very useful when learning English because you can mark and highlight words you are interested in. If you have trouble reading small print, you can increase the font size as well. From now on, instead of buying a book at a bookstore, you can immediately purchase and read a book on your regular cell phone.
I read Peter and Wendy this time. It is a very famous animation, but I had never read the book before, so it was very new to me. I learned two words this time. The first is "pluck. It means the same as "out of/off" and in Japanese it means "引きちぎる/むしる". For example, you can say, "She plucked an apple from a tree." The second word is "mock". In Japanese, it means "バカにする/嘲笑う". For example, "You're mocking me, aren't you? (バカにしてるの?)". It's a word that could be used quite routinely. [ I hope you aren't being mocked routinely. - Kevin]

I didn’t know that e-book were so easy and convenient. So I want to keep reading English books on Kindle from now on.
I read Alice in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll. I learned some new words from this book. The first word is “circumstance”. This means “状況、事情” in Japanese and “situation” “condition” in English. The second word is “languid”. This means “だらっとした、けだるい” in Japanese, “lazy” “lacking in energy” in English.

I had never used an e-readier before using it in this class because I prefer paper books to e-books. The first e-book I used was iBooks. It is an app originally installed on the iPhone. And there are books that you can read for free in this app, so you can read the book by searching for the book you want to read. However, be aware that some books have to be bought for a fee. But even with paid books, you can try out reading some pages with free samples, so if you find a book that interests you, I recommend you try a sample first. And with this app you can set your reading time goals. We can decide the habit of reading every day with the app, so we can read as much as we can. iBooks is easy for anyone to use, so you can continue reading. You can add a bookmark when you stop reading so you can find your place when you start reading again. The only thing I find difficult to use is that some people may find it difficult to read because the font size cannot be adjusted. [This is not true. Font size can be adjusted in iBooks - Kevin] Compared to e-reading, my eyes don't get tired when I read a paper book, so even if I read for a long time, the way I get tired is completely different.
I learned some words from “The little prince”. The Little Prince. [We capitalize the title and use italics; no quotation marks. ] The first is “magnificent”. It means “壮大な” in Japanese. The second word is “wisdom”. It means “賢明” in Japanese. [English meaning too, please.]

I learned some words from The Little Prince. The first is “magnificent”. It means “壮大な” in Japanese and “grand” “majestic” in English. The second word is “wisdom”. It means “賢明” in Japanese and “intelligence” “wit” in English.

I had never used Kindle before this assignment. It's an e-book app that you can enjoy on your smartphone without having to buy a physical book. Kindle is free to download to your smartphone or tablet. For some books, a fee is charged. The good thing is that you don't have to go to the bookstore to buy the book. You can download it and read it anytime, anywhere.
Kindle also has three dictionary functions. They are for Japanese, British and American English. If you long-press the word you don't understand and want to know, the meaning will come out easily. This is very simple and easy to understand.
I read Alice in Wonderland on Kindle. I learned two new expressions. The first is “fixed on”. It means “決まる” in Japanese. The second is “insolation of~”. [?] It means “傲慢の” in Japanese. [English meanings too, please.]
E-reading is more difficult than Xreading, but it has a dictionary function, so you can search for words right away.

Apple Books is one of the apps originally included in the iPhone. With this app, you can download and read many books for free. You can read new books as well as popular titles. It is easy to use. You can quickly turn pages by sliding. The app also notifies you of the end of a chapter in the lower right corner of the page, giving you a sense of accomplishment and allowing you to decide for yourself when to finish reading the book. If you don't understand the meaning of a sentence, you can select that section and it will translate it for you. If there is a phrase you want to remember, you can highlight it to make it stand out. Besides, you can also download audiobooks and PDFs. What I recommend most is the "Reading Goals". This is a feature that will measure your reading time for the day. It also coaches you on your reading goals. Each day you will receive a reminder of your progress and the number of consecutive reading days. You can also continue reading from there. I have read Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. I learned a word from that book: "racecourse," which means water stream, waterway, [?] or horse racetrack. In Japanese, it is called 競馬場.

This is my first time using e-teading. E-reading is a very convenient and easy way to read English books on your smartphone or P.C. Older books are free to download so you can read them without spending money. There are also many free books available. Features include the ability to change the size and font of the text, as well as the color of the page. You can also search for words and phrases and see where they appear. If you press and hold on a word, you can draw a line and it will tell you the meaning. You can also bookmark the last page you read. You can easily read books by using applications such as iBooks and Kindle. [So which app did you use?]
I read Peter Pan. I learned two new words through this book. The first is “pluck”. This means “摘み取る” in Japanese. The definition of English is “take hold of something and quickly remove it from its place”. The second is “henceforth”. This means “今からは” “今後は” in Japanese. The definition of English is “starting from this time”.
E-reading has many useful features that make it a great tool for studying English. I will continue to use e-reading in my free time or when I am on the train.

The site e-reading [?] allows anyone to read books for free. If you have an iPhone, we [?] recommend using an app called Apple Books. It allows you to set a reading time. In a paper book, you have to insert a bookmark or a piece of paper when you want to continue reading. However in an e-book, you can mark the text and understand it at a glance. In addition, if you have a cell phone that you use in your daily life, you can read the book anytime and anywhere. If there is a word you do not understand, you can look it up in the dictionary by touching the word. There are many things you can do with an e-book that you cannot do with a paper book. I chose the book Peter Pan and Wendy to learn English. I chose this book because I had the Japanese translation of the book, so I could look up phrases I didn't understand immediately if I didn't understand them. I also thought I could review the book since I had studied it in my university classes. In this book, I learned the grammar "if only I had”. This grammar Japanese means "〜でさえあればなあ". It means to wish for something different from the reality. I thought this phrase would not be used very often, but in this book it is used a lot, and I felt I could use it in my daily life.

I studied English by using Kindle for this assignment. E-reading is for reading digital books the same as Xreading, and you can read books on your smartphone in English, so you can read anywhere. But there are some big differences. First, you can easily search words. If you find a word you don't know, you long-tap it to launch the digital dictionary. You can also check example sentences on this dictionary. And you can add bookmarks and underline or highlight with the Kindle app. You can understand how far you have read and what is important to note.
I read Henzel And Gray [Aya, please check the title.] on Kindle and I learned two words. The first one is “exhausted”. 使い尽くされた,疲れ果てた in Japanese. This word is used like in this book “They’re exhausted after hours of wandering the dark forest”. This passage’s Japanese meaning is 暗い森を何時間もさまよった後、彼らは疲れ果ててしまった. The next word is “foul”悪臭いin Japanese. Its context is “a foul odor “悪臭
I think e-reading is very useful because I can read many books for free. I can develop the ability to concentrate and acquire the power of long reading. Actually I feel motivated to learn English because I can learn at any time.

I used ibook.
The thing I liked about this app is that ibook is an app that comes with the iPhone, so there is no need to install an app, and there are some free books available, so you can use it without spending a lot of money.
Also, there are many books in English as well as Japanese, so I felt it was possible to use this app to learn a second language.
Next, there are some points that I found useful.
For example, if you want to stop reading in the middle of a book you are reading, the app saves the book on its own, so you can start reading from the same place the next time you want to read it.
The app also has a highlight function, so you can highlight in different colors the words you looked up that you didn't understand, or the words you want to keep.
I found this to be a very useful feature for learning when rereading.
And since there is also a memo function, I think one way to study is to leave various notes in the memo in addition to the highlighting function.
The word I learned from reading Alice in Wonderland this time is the word childish.
This word means to be condescending or childish.

By using e-reader app [which one?], I noticed that it is much easier to use than paper books. You can read anywhere when you have free time because your digital device is always with you. Also, you can change the setting to vertical scroll, bookmark pages, and use search function. First, if you change the settings from horizontal scroll to vertical scroll, it will make it easier to keep track of your reading. Not only you can keep track of how many pages you have read, but you can also see your progress visually from the bar on the right. Second, you can bookmark pages so you can quickly go back to the page afterwards. Third, If there are quotes or sentences you like, you can highlight it and reread it whenever you want. FInaly, there is a search function to search words or quotes not only inside the book, but also on the web or Wikipedia. [?] This will allow us to save a favorite quote.
The function mentioned above increased my reading experience satisfaction. Not every book you can read on your phone has functions that are convenient like an e-reader app. [I don't understand this sentence.]
[Ryuay, what app did you use? What book did you read? What words did you learn? If you don't have this information, I don't know if you even did the assignment. - Kevin]

I tried using Kindle for e-reading. Kindle is an e-book service provided by Amazon. I can download the Kindle app to my smartphone or tablet and purchase books from the Kindle store. l can read books anytime, anywhere, such as on way to work or home. It is recommended for people who like to read books because you can always read books with your smartphone. If there is a book you want to read, you can search for it, so it's very easy to acquire. A particularly good point about Kindle is that when there is a word you don't understand, if you press it for a long time, a dictionary appears and you can easily understand its meaning. It also has a voice function, so I can understand the pronunciation. However, it's hard to find a book that fits your level because you don't know if it's the right level until you read it.
I read Beauty and the Beast. I learned two words in this book. The first one is "deserve". The meaning is "do something or have or show qualities worthy of (a reaction which rewards or punishes as appropriate)." The meaning in Japanese is "価値がある", "受けるに足る". The second is "misfortune". The meaning is "an event or conjunction of events that causes an unfortunate or distressing result." The meaning in Japanese is "不幸","不運".

I'm using the E-reading app, Kindle. It has many useful points. First, I can read free books with this app. If I download the book I want to read, I can read it offline. That is convenient when commuting by bus or train. Second, Kindle has dictionary functionality. If I press a word I don't understand, it will tell me the meaning of the word. It's convenient because it saves me the trouble of checking the meaning in a dictionary. Third, I can change the size and font of the characters and make them more visible for easy reading. Finally, there is also a function that converts difficult words into gentle words, so I can challenge difficult books. I don't usually read books, but I think E-reading is very convenient and I can carry many books easily.
I read The Prince And The Troll. There are two new words that I learned in this book. The first is "separately". It means "one by one" in English and "別々に" "一つずつ" in Japanese. The second is "empty". It means "evacuate" in English and "空にする" in Japanese.

I will talk about what I thought about using the Kindle e-reading app. First of all, with Kindle you can search for books in various genres, such as business, sports, politics, and more. And from the books I read in the past, recommended books are introduced by Kindle. And with Kindle, the books that users want are written in a ranking format, so you can see what kind of books Kindle users are interested in, what kind of books they are looking for, and so on. And Kindle is not just an application for finding books, as there are books on Kindl that are published independently, so Kindle is also useful for people who self-publish.
With Kindle, you can always see how many books you have read and you can set goals for the year. By setting goals, you can increase your desire to read more books.
Finally, I would like to introduce a function called a reading ruler. This is a useful feature that not only makes reading very easy, but also helps you focus on reading. [But you didn't explain it. What is it? What's the point of introducing something without telling us what it does?]
From the above, Kindle is a very interesting application that not only makes it easy to find the book you want to read, but also makes it easier to read and makes you want to read more.
[Dictionary function! You should mention it!]

I used Apple Books for this assignment, and I will introduce the advantages of Apple Books for learning English.
The first advantage is the simplicity of operation and ease of use. The application is an official Apple one, and since iPhone users have it installed from the beginning, there is no need for unnecessary registration, and we can start the application and look for books right away. The book search is also available by genre, with an "English Books" category, so we can quickly find a book suitable for English study.
The second advantage is the ability to copy, paste, and read text out loud. These functions allow us to check the pronunciation of unfamiliar words and search the Internet smoothly, leading to better learning.
And the last good advantage is the possibility of listening to a lot of audiobooks. Audiobooks offer a wide variety of audio materials, such as English conversation books and those that allow us to practice listening to and pronouncing words, making it possible to learn English more effectively.
This time I read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and learned that "〜を誓う" in Japanese is "swear to" in English.

I read The Turtle and the Rabbit from the Magic Forest Adventure series on Kindle. The author of this book is Linda Aksomitis. I didn't know this writer. I chose this book because the cover was cute and because it was similar to a story book I know. I like the turtle's eyes. I also like the mouth of the rabbit. I learned two new words from this book. The first word is ‘’wave’’. This is a move one's hand to and fro in greeting or as a signal. The meaning in Japanese is ‘’波長’’. [This is wrong.] The second word is ‘’guess’’. This is an estimate or conclusion about without sufficient information to be sure of being correct. The meaning in Japanese is ‘’言い当てる’’.
A book with a small number of words will make you feel like reading. I think picture books are effective because they have illustrations. Picture books are made for children, so words and grammar are easy. Even a simple book will give you confidence if you can read it without using a dictionary. I want to read a lot of books that suit me and improve my English. [You need to explain the features of Kindle, especially the dictionary function.]

I read Shin-chan Crayon on an e-reading app. E-reading allows you to find your favorite books and read them for free. [This is only true for some books, such as old, classic books, or books that the store is offering as a promotion.] The book I read is a comic book, and it's easy to understand because the sentences are not long. There were pictures, so it was easy to understand the content of the story. The good thing about e-reading is that you can easily find the book you want to read so you can learn English. In addition, there is a bookmark function, so once you close the screen, you can see it again from there. This is convenient if you only want to read for a short time. By looking at it little by little, you can improve your English skills. I think it's very good to be able to see books on your cell phone and read them anytime, anywhere.
I learned two words from this book. The first one is “smell”. This means "the faculty or power of perceiving odors or scents by means of the nose."In Japanese it means “におい”. The second word is “action”. This means "the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim." In Japanese, it means “アクション”. [Sp this word is the same in English and Japanese, but you never knew this word until you started reading Crayon Shin-chan?]

I read The Fables of Aesop on iBooks. There are three points that are good about it. The first good point is that you can quickly look up words you don't understand. I feel that it is a very good point to understand the meaning immediately by tapping a word. The second good point is that you can quickly reach the story you want to read. The third good thing is that the story isn't too long, so you can read it in a short time. That is a good point. However, I think it is more effective to use e-reading as a supplement to regular English learning.
It's a good idea to compare before and after learning English. It is recommended because you can see how smoothly the book can be read and how many words you do not understand are reduced by learning. [This seems like a good idea, but I don't know how you can do this. - Kevin] Try it the way that suits you best.

The first thing I thought after using Apple Books is that it does not use paper. This is good for the environment. Paper books are very inconvenient to carry, but with Apple Books, you can read any book with just your smartphone. It's very easy to understand compared to other apps, so it's easy to use for even grandfathers or grandmothers. My grandma also said that Apple Books is easy to use. Other apps have to be downloaded, but Apple Books is already included so it's very convenient.
I thought that the dreams and illusions that the characters unfold are completely different from what I think, so my inspiration has expanded. After reading this book, I decided to think more about things that are different from others. [What book are you talking about?\
I learned that "pretend" is "to imitate a character or thing." Also, "imperious" means "to be very arrogant." "Completely" is an adverb and has the meaning "almost everything."
[Dictionary function! You should mention it!]
The first thing I thought after using Apple Books is that it does not use paper. This is good for the environment. I read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn using kindle. It is fascinating to read famous literary works for free. The books are interesting and fun to learn with. E-books are less bulky than actual paper so readers can continue learning anytime, anywhere. However, reading English novels requires high vocabulary. It is difficult to learn effectively unless you have a certain level of English proficiency. In the novels I read this time, I had a hard time reading because one character spoke imperfect English. Although I can efficiently use the dictionary to search the meanings of words then complete the process on the same device, personally, my eyes get tired of continuously looking at the text across the screen. I find it difficult to concentrate for a long time and read all texts at once. Therefore, I think this is compatible with the style of reading books in a small amount of time.
This time I learned a few words. The first word is cruel. It means "残酷" in Japanese. The Second word is "rapscallions". It means "悪漢" in Japanese. Next word is "gwyne." This word has the equivalent meaning of "going" in black English. [You're correct about the meaning of "gwynne", but this spelling is just meant to show you the characters accent You can't actually use this word, so it's not really worth including in this paragraph.]

I studied English with e-reading using an application called IBooks. There are so many types of books on IBookss. For the first time, I learned that I can read English books on IBooks during my commuting time, such as when I'm on the train, and I thought it was amazing. What I studied this time was rA Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol is very difficult to read in English. When studying extensive reading, I think it's best to read slowly and carefully from a gentle book. I think the application called IBooks is very good for learning English. I think that you will improve your English by studying every day until you find a level that suits your ability and enjoy reading the book while looking up words that you do not understand. My English ability is still immature and I can only read low level books. Now, I would like to read a book that suits my level steadily and continue to understand it properly. I learned the word ‘clergyman’, which means “聖職者” or “牧師” in Japanese.I learned the word "administrator" which means "管理者" in Japanese. [Dictionary function! You should mention it!]

I used Apple Books for e-reading. Apple Books has been installed on the iPhone since its purchase. Anyone with an iPhone can read it. This app allows you to purchase books, comics, and other items using the payment method registered in your Apple ID. You can share those purchased books and comics with your family. It displays how much you have read, so you can study systematically.
At Apple Books I read Who Moved My Cheese? What I learned from this book is "Better late than never. 「遅れてもやらないよりかはまし。 This statement can be used like this.
A: I’m sorry I’m late. 「遅れてすみません。」
B: Better late than never. Let’s get this meeting started.「遅れて来ないよりましだ。ミーティングを始めよう。」
Finally, here's a summary of the good and the bad of e-books.
Advantages.
・Room for more space.. With paper books, you need a place to store them, but with e-books, you don't need that.
・Read anywhere. Paper books are usually purchased and read at bookstores. But with e-books, you can save time going to the bookstore.
[These should b e paragraphs, not bullet points.]
Disadvantages.
・Cannot be sold. You cannot sell books that you have finished reading.
・Sometimes it is not possible to buy books on the day of sale. Generally, e-books are released later than paper books.
[These should b e paragraphs, not bullet points.]
I used to collect paper comics, but recently they have gotten in the way. That being said, I now find e-books easier to use!

I read a book in English on Kindle. This app is provided by Amazon. An e-book can be used on smartphones and PC. There are three good points of this app. The first is the dictionary function. This function displays the dictionary when you touch a word. If you don't understand a word, you can solve it immediately. The second is that it can be customized. You can change the font size, font design, and background color. I don't have good eyesight so it was great to be able to change the background color. The last is to add highlights to the text. The marker can be erased so you can attach it without hesitation. These functions are possible only with e-books.
I read The Story of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting. You can read this book for free on Kindle. There are two new words that I learned in this book. First is “nuisance”. It means "a thing, person or situation that is annoying or causes trouble or problems," and “迷惑” in Japanese. Second is “dungeon”. It means "a dark underground room used as a prison, especially in a castle," and “地下牢” in Japanese.
Kindle has many books that you can read for free, so it's student-friendly. It will help you learn English.

I used Apple Books and Aldiko. Apple Books has a library function. If you want to edit your library, you can touch it and slide the book to move where you want and you can hide or delete your books easily.
I read Beauty and the Beast on Apple Books. This book has audio with music and beautiful illustrations so I feel it was like an animation. If you can't hear a word, you can touch the word and listen to the audio again quickly. You don’t have to turn to the next page yourself while you listen to the audio, because Apple Books can do it automatically.
On Aldiko, there are great functions. One of them is the dictionary function. I read Peter Pan, but there were many difficult words, so it was super useful. Both an English-English dictionary and Japanese-English dictionary are available. And the color highlight marker function is also very useful because I can check and separate by color the words that I learn for the first time or find new meanings.
I learned new words. First is “snuck” from Beauty and the Beast. It is the past tense of "sneak" and means "to go somewhere secretly, trying to avoid being seen" and こそこそすること in Japanese. Second is “conspicuous” from Peter Pan. It means "easy to see or notice; likely to attract attention" and 人目を引くさま in Japanese.
Apps with these useful functions are helpful to read English books so I will use them to learn English and read while having fun.

I used the iBooks app to read Peter Pan. I was hesitant to read a book in English because I don't usually buy or read books. However, there were many books that I could read in their entirety for free, so I thought it would be easy to challenge myself without any financial burden, unlike buying a book written in English and trying to read it out of the blue.
There were several good things about using iBooks that were different from physical books. The first is that I can look up any word immediately. With physical books, I had to prepare a dictionary and a cell phone separately from the books, but with e-reading, I only need one cell phone, which I thought was an advantage. Second, you can change the size of the text, font, background color, and brightness to make it easier for you to read. There is also a search function that allows you to search for a word or page, so you can easily look it up.
I learned some new words from Peter Pan. The first one is "brutal". It means "very cruel and violent", and"容赦のない” in Japanese. The second is "hopefully," which means a way of saying what you hope will happen, which some people think is incorrect. In Japanese, it means"〜だといいね”. It is used in the same way as "I hope.
After using e-reading, I feel that it is necessary to not only listen to the audio, but also to learn by looking and reading. It's easy to read wherever I am, so I think my English will improve little by little by continuing to read every day in my free time.

I used the Kindle app on my phone for the first time. I read Alice's Adventures In Wonderland written by Lewis Carrol.
The good thing about Kindle is that if you press and hold a word, a dictionary will appear, so you can quickly look up the meaning of a word you don't understand. Also, since you can mark with four colors of red, blue, yellow, and orange, you can use different colors depending on your purpose, and you can mark words so that you do not lose sight of them, which is also a good point of Kindle. Another nice thing is that if you press and hold a sentence you don't understand and slide it, it will be translated. If you can't figure out just by looking up a word, it's useful. The bad thing about Kindle is that it's not leveled like Xreading, so finding a book that suits your level can be a bit tricky.
I learned two words. The first is "unpleasant". This means "disagreeable" in English and "不愉快な" "嫌な" in Japanese. The second is "altogether". This means "quite" in English and "完全に" "全く" in Japanese.

I used Apple Books and Xreading on my iPhone. I used Apple Books for the first time because in the past, I read comics with a dedicated app on the iPhone. Both Apple Books and Xreading were easy to use, but the benefits were different. On Apple Books, you can hear the audio for many books. In addition, the text that is spoken is highlighted, so you can understand which part is being read. If you have a sentence that you want Apple Books to read, tapping it will make Apple Books read it aloud. Also, if there is a word that you don't understand in the book, you can tap the word to open the dictionary, and the meaning will appear.
I read a book called Aesop's Fables; I Read Aloud Edition in Apple Books. I learned two English words reading it. First, I learned "provocation". The meaning is "人を怒らせること,挑発" in Japanese and "action or speech that makes someone annoyed or angry" in English. Second, I learned "pelt". The meaning is "石などを人に投げつける" in Japanese and "attack someone by repeatedly hurling things at them" in English. I learned these using the features of Apple Books.
By using Apple Books and Xreading, I realized that they are useful for not only reading books, but also for learning English.

I used the Kindle app. I knew about Kindle because I'm a member of Amazon Prime, but I had never used Kindle before. I used it for the first time for this assignment.
Kindle has Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading. With Kindle Unlimited, you can register for 980 yen per month, and get access to about 1.2 million books, which is basically all you can read. Since I am an Amazon Prime member, I read a book with Prime Reading which can be used for free. There are about 1,000 Japanese books on this service. You can read and select from a wide range of genres, including novels, business books, magazines, and comics. However, Kindle deals with more foreign books than Japanese books, so I think it is convenient for studying English.
Fortunately for me, there are some easy to read books for children. This time, the book I read was An Army of Frogs, which has 290 pages. When reading with Kindle, it automatically displays the meaning of some words, and if you press and hold a word for a long time, you can see the Japanese translation. I think it's very easy to use.
I learned three words. The first word is “leap”. The meaning is “飛び跳ねる” in Japanese and “jump or spring a long away” in English. The second word is “carapace”. This meaning is “甲羅” in Japanese and “the hard upper shell of a tortoise or crustacean” in English. The third word is “throne”. This meaning is “王位” in Japanese and “used to signify sovereign power” in English.
I don't have a habit of reading books now, but someday when I fall in love with books, I'd like to use Kindle.

This time, I used Kindle and iBooks on my iPhone. It is my first time to use an electronic book. Originally, iBooks was installed on my phone from the beginning, but there were few kinds of books on it, so I installed Kindle. Until now, I had a negative opinion of electronic books. Certainly, it is very good to be able to read a number of books with one mobile phone and that the luggage is not bulky, but I thought that it was not attractive because I cannot feel the smell of the book and I cannot turn the pages. I like to feel the texture of the paper book. However, I noticed that these apps are very convenient and easy to read. At first, I was worried that I couldn't understand the contents of the book, but even if I don't know the meaning of the word, there is a dictionary function that can search the meaning, so I was able to know it immediately. I was very impressed. When examining words usually, I had to retrieve the electronic dictionary, so I thought that it would be very good to solve the problem on that page alone. Just trying to remember a word is difficult, but the book has a background, so it is easier to memorize than studying a word normally. From now on, when I have time I will read a book on mobile and improve my vocabulary.
I learned several words from Gulliver's Travels and Mary Poppins. The first word is "intimate". It means "親密な" in Japanese and "having a close and friendly relationship" in English. The next word is "majesty". It means "威厳" in Japanese and "the impressive and attractive quality that something has" in English. The third word is "esteem". It means "尊重する" in Japanese and" great respect and admiration; a good opinion of somebody" in English. The last word is" dilapidated". It means "ぼろぼろになった" in Japanese and "(of furniture and building) old and in very bad condition" in English.

I used Aldiko for the homework of E-reading. Then I found a book in the Public Domain Books category, the title is Anne of Green Gables. I choose this book because it's a free public domain book and the girl in the illustration on the cover is very cute.
You can check the description and information about this book before you download it. After you download the book, you can change the font size, or change the screen to white type on a black background. You can select the chapter in two ways, from the contents page or by scrolling right. If you don't finish reading, you can bookmark the page. Also the app remembers the last page you read, so you can always start reading from where you stopped previously. Next, If you find some words that you don't know, you can search for them on this app. If you push longer on a word that you want the meaning, then select Define, it connects to a dictionary.
A new word that I learned was"rig (不正をする、装備する)" which means "do wrong" and "to equip" in English. Also, "vastly (非常に)" means "greatly" in English. Finally, "untruthful" (正直ではない) means "not honest" in English.
I think E-reading can help us learn English easily. Anyone with a smart phone who has free time can begin reading, and you can check words easily with the online dictionary.

I had never used book apps before Kevin recommended Aldiko and iBooks, so I tried to use them. It was my first time to read books on my cell phone. I was surprised that there were many books which I I could read. However, it is a little difficult to find free books and most books cost money so you have to be careful when you use these apps.
First, I'm going to tell you about Aldiko. This app is free to download. It has book description and book information so you can take a look any kind of books and choose which you like. There are a lot of options; font, margins, typeface, brightness, text color, background and justification so you can customize books however takes your fancy. In addition, you can search words inside the books. I read "Little Women" and found "tiresome." It means making you feel annoyed or bored (Japanese: 退屈な). Next, I'm going to tell you about iBooks. This app is on your phone from the beginning if you have an iPhone. You can read not only English books, but also Japanese books. The most awesome point of this app is to search word's meaning with an online dictionary. When you are faced with a word you don't know, touch it and click "dictionary" and the meaning comes up. That's all it takes. You can find any word's meaning quickly when you want to know. I read "Sherlock Holmes Classic" and found "misfortune". It means something harmful or unpleasant that happens to someone (Japanese:不運).

I used the app Kindle with my cell phone. I downloaded this app from the app store, and it's free. I tried to read Winnie the Pooh by A.A.Milne. I had never read the story before. I felt that the story was easy because the characters are only Pooh, Christopher Robin and bee, so it's easy to understand the story. Sometimes I found difficult vocabulary words in the book. But if I only touch a word, that I don't know, the dictionary meaning appears on the screen so I can know its meaning and listen to the pronunciation. And I could draw a highlight on a word or phrase. If you think a word or a sentence is important, you can highlight it with a color and you can check it later. I discovered another good point. It is that I can make flashcards. When I draw a color line on a word, this app automatically makes flashcards. It is a very convenient function, so it helps a user to study English and to read a book in English.
I learned some new words and expressions from Winnie the Pooh. They are “hand in hand”, “whisper”, “wander” and “steep”. “Hand in hand” is when people, who are lovers, family members or close friends hold hands for a long time. It is “手を繋いで” in Japanese. “Whisper” is when people speak in a small voice, and it is “ささやく” in Japanese. “Wander” means that people walk around a place aimlessly, and it is “(あてもなく)歩き回る” in Japanese. “Steep” means a not gentle slope, and it is “(坂などが)険しい” in Japanese.
